Palenque in the Jungle

Palenque:  For many Palenque is their favourite Mayan site - covered in forest and unlike Chichen Itza, it is possible to climb many of the structures, at least for now.  Staying in a jungle lodge, just a kilometre or two from the archaeological site was amazing.  It truly was a rain forest though as I discovered when I stupidly did some washing that never quite dried. Note to self -don't do hand washing in the rain forest!   Also worth a visit is the little museum of Palenque which is just a short walk from the main site and has some interesting exhibits including a scaled mock up of Palenque.  Definitely worth a look.
