This week has been a week of learning in so many different ways.
Firstly, We've now completed our first week at Spanish school and have learnt so much. John is doing the beginners course although this will be his 3rd time as a beginner so not sure how many times he'll get away with this. I am on the intermediate course but spent the first lesson wondering what on earth the teacher was saying as the language seemed totally unrecognizable. There is a fairly unique pronunciation here using the "ch" sound so for example "yo" is pronounced "cho" and "ella" as "echa" etc so I have to unlearn my previously taught pronunciation until I leave Argentina when I have to revert back to my original way of speaking. Confusing or what! Thankfully classes are small with no more than 4 in a class. The best bit is sitting in the park afterwards, eating empanandas with our fellow students who between us come from 10 different countries.
Secondly we have learnt a little tango . The workshop we attended had far more men than woman which is in total contrast to most classes in England that we've been to. As in most classes, changing dancing partners is normal so John got to dance with far more guys than I did! I loved the class but of course it is far easier for a woman who just has to have a good partner to follow their lead The best bit was watching the teachers perform at the end as to what tango should really look like e.g. smooth and passionate rather than the shuffling around that we were doing!
Thirdly we took a class in photography and rather than say more, we have posted here some of our favourite photos from this week.
So a week of formal learning as well as the ongoing informal learning of living in a new city and learning how to eat like a local, use the subway and the oh so confusing buses that twist and turn rapidly along the streets.
