Meeting up with friends

Our main reason for coming to Sri Lanka was to meet up with our good friends Elaine and Theo who are on a world trip.  We were so excited to see them in reception when we got up today but no time to catch up yet as we were advised to get to the train station early to book our tickets to Kandy tomorrow.   We leapt on one of the buses outside our hotel and I really do mean leap as the buses don't actually stop long enough for you to get on and off. John only just made it on to the bus in time.  It was fun sitting with local people on the local bus and as we have found with people all over the world, there is always someone who is kind enough to tell us when we have reached our stop.  The main train station in Colombo is called Fort and it looks like a fort but am not sure of its origins.  After some lenghthy conversations we booked our train tickets and other parts of our trip so now it was time for breakfast finally.

We eat at a place called the Dutch  Hospital where numerous little cafes are located.  Now it was definitely time for a well deserved breakfast and a lovely long catch up with our friends.

Next we decided to walk offf breakfast with a long walk back along the oceon front.  A few little stallls selling food and drink lined the way but generally it was  non commercial and we enjoyed a relaxing walk along the oceon until it got a little too hot and we decided to jump in a  tuc tuc for the last bit of the journey.

Later that afternoon,  at precisely 4pm, the same time as yesterday,  the rain and the storms began,  so much of the evening was taking up by eating, drinking and chatting - what could be bettter?
